Meet Dr. Lappin

​​​​​Dr. Cory J. Lappin was raised in New Philadelphia, Ohio and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, where he concurrently earned his Master of Science degree in Vision Science and served as Class President and was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and Epsilon Psi Epsilon. He then continued his training by completing a residency in Ocular Disease at the renowned Cincinnati Eye Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. Prior to his optometric training, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Miami University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with Honors with Distinction.

Dr. Lappin’s practice focuses exclusively on the treatment of dry eye and ocular surface disease. He has authored countless articles on these topics and he routinely travels nationally and internationally to lecture on these subjects as well. Dr. Lappin has also appeared on several podcasts, radio, and TV programs as a featured guest and has been quoted in articles published by USA Today and CNN. He started his career practicing at Phoenix Eye Care and the Dry Eye Center of Arizona where he worked alongside the esteemed Dr. Shannon Steinhäuser and the late Dr. Arthur Epstein, a world leader in the field of dry eye, before establishing his own dedicated dry eye and ocular surface disease clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and Intrepid Eye Society. Previously, he served as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Optometric Association. He is also Chief Medical Editor for the e-journal Optometric Physician and a member of multiple editorial boards for eye care publications, including Eyes On Eyecare and Optometry 360, and serves as Chair for Eyes On Eyecare’s annual Corneal Health Summit.

Dr. Lappin received the American Academy of Optometry Foundation Practice Excellence Award and was named the 2023 Young Optometrist of the Year by the Arizona Optometric Association. He is also a graduate of the AOA Leadership Institute 1.0 and 2.0 programs. Additionally, Dr. Lappin has actively been engaged in research, serving as a reviewer for numerous clinical and scientific journals, and being selected to participate in the NIH/NEI T35 research training program and receiving the Vincent J. Ellerbrock Memorial Award in recognition of accomplishments in vision science research.
